Website Terms Explained

Website language, explained clearly

Understand what you are buying, using and renewing.

Domains, hosting, DNS, SSL, SEO and handover should not feel like secret agency language. This guide explains the terms BluWebPro clients encounter before, during and after a website project.

How to use this guide

Find the term, understand the practical effect.

Each definition tells you what the item is. Selected notes explain how it typically affects a BluWebPro package or client responsibility.

Before choosing a packageUnderstand what domain, hosting, email, responsive design and search-ready setup actually include.
During productionClarify content, revision rounds, technical configuration and approval responsibilities.
At launch and handoverKnow what transfers to you and which third-party tools remain governed by their own terms.
After the first yearRecognise annual domain and hosting renewals, suspension and reactivation language.
01 · Online foundations

The services that keep a website reachable.

These are the core technical assets behind your public website and professional email.

Domain Name

The human-readable address people type to reach your website, such as bluwebpro.co.za.

Practical effect: the domain identifies the online property; it is not the website files or hosting account.

Domain Registration

The process of reserving an available domain through an authorised registrar for a stated period.

Registration depends on availability and must be renewed to remain active.

Domain Renewal

The recurring payment required to keep the registered domain active after its current registration period.

BluWebPro pricing: .co.za R150/year and .com R300/year under the current published schedule.

Website Hosting

The server space and supporting resources that store website files and make them available online.

Hosting capacity and services vary according to the selected package level.

Hosting Renewal

The recurring charge that keeps the hosting service active after the included or paid period ends.

Important: BluWebPro hosting is invoiced annually. Any monthly figure shown is an equivalent only.

DNS

Domain Name System settings connect a domain to the correct website server, email service and other online destinations.

Incorrect DNS changes can interrupt a website or business email.

SSL Certificate

A security certificate that encrypts data exchanged between a visitor's browser and the website. It enables the secure https address.

SSL supports secure transmission, but it does not make every website process automatically secure.

Professional Business Email

An email address using your own domain, such as info@yourbusiness.co.za, rather than a free public email domain.

Mailbox limits and storage depend on the package or hosting service.

Email Forwarding

A rule that automatically sends messages received at one address to another nominated mailbox.

Forwarding does not always create a separate mailbox or allow sending from the forwarded address.

Email Alias

An additional address that delivers mail into an existing mailbox without creating a separate inbox.

For example, enquiries@ may deliver into info@ while both use one mailbox.
02 · Website build

The tools and features visitors interact with.

WordPress / CMS

WordPress is a content management system, or CMS, used to create, organise and manage website content through an administrative interface.

WordPress core and third-party extensions may update independently of the website design.

Responsive Design

A design approach that adapts page layout and content presentation across desktop, tablet and mobile screen sizes.

Responsive does not mean every device renders every detail identically.

Contact Form

A structured online form that collects visitor information and sends or stores an enquiry for the business.

Reliable delivery depends on correct form, mailbox and outgoing-email configuration.

Website Backup

A saved copy of website files and, where applicable, database information that may help restore the site after a failure or unwanted change.

A backup is useful only when it exists, is recoverable and contains the required point in time.

Website Security

The combination of software updates, access controls, monitoring, secure configuration and responsible user behaviour used to reduce website risk.

No provider can promise that an internet-connected website will never be attacked or compromised.
03 · Search and measurement

How search engines understand the site and how performance is observed.

SEO

Search engine optimisation is the ongoing practice of improving content, technical quality and authority so search engines can understand and potentially rank a website.

SEO does not guarantee a particular ranking, traffic level or sales result.

Search-Ready Foundation

A clean initial setup that supports search visibility through sensible page structure, titles and basic technical configuration.

Important: this is a launch foundation, not an ongoing SEO campaign or ranking guarantee.

Sitemap

A structured file that lists relevant website pages to help search engines discover and process site content.

A sitemap helps discovery but does not force indexing or ranking.

Google Search Console

A Google service that reports search visibility, indexing information and selected technical issues for a verified website.

Google controls the service, its data and its reporting availability.

Analytics

Tools that record and summarise selected visitor and website activity, subject to configuration, privacy choices and technical limitations.

Analytics data is directional and may differ across tools, consent settings and devices.
04 · eCommerce

The language of products, checkout and online payment.

eCommerce

The online presentation, ordering and sale of products or services through a website.

A store also depends on product data, business rules, payment services, shipping and client operations.

WooCommerce

A WordPress eCommerce system used to manage products, carts, checkout, orders and related store functions.

Extensions, gateways and integrations may carry separate licences or service terms.

Payment Gateway

A third-party service that securely processes online payment information and transfers transaction instructions between the customer, merchant and financial systems.

Gateway approval, fees, settlement and account compliance are controlled by the gateway provider.

Product Variation

A selectable version of a product, such as a particular size, colour, pack or other attribute.

Each variation may require its own price, stock, image or product data.
05 · Delivery and continuing service

What happens during review, handover, expiry and recovery.

Revision Round

One consolidated client response containing the requested changes for that review stage.

Important: gather feedback into one clear list. BluWebPro implementation errors do not consume the agreed revision allowance.

Website Handover

The transfer or provision of agreed final access, information and client-specific completed website assets after the project requirements and payment obligations are satisfied.

Third-party licences remain subject to their own terms and are not converted into client-owned software.

Website Suspension

A temporary interruption of hosting, access or related service, commonly caused by an unpaid renewal, expiry, security risk or serious breach.

Suspension is not the same as guaranteed preservation of the website, domain or data.

Website Reactivation

The technical and administrative work required to restore a suspended or expired service where recovery remains possible.

Important: reactivation may require outstanding renewals, administration fees and third-party recovery charges. Recovery is not guaranteed.
Plain language has limits

This guide explains terms. It does not replace the agreement.
